The Dalhart Wolves will square off against the River Road Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Dalhart has six straight victories, River Road has ten straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Dalhart barely beat Tulia the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolves blew past the Hornets 20-11 on Tuesday.
Kreed Hines was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his six plate appearances with two RBI and one run.

In other batting news, Dalhart let Lil Bird and Talon Garcia run wild. Bird went 2-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI, while Garcia went 2-for-5 with five runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI. Garcia is becoming a predictor of Dalhart's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 6-8 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Speer, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Dalhart was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when River Road took on Childress on Tuesday. The Wildcats lost 13-3 to the Bobcats. That's two games in a row now that the Wildcats have lost by exactly ten runs.
Seth Underwood made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Dalhart pushed their record up to 11-8 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for River Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-14.
River Road's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Dalhart hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .345. It's a different story for River Road, though, as they've only averaged .235. Will they be able to contain Dalhart's hitters?
Dalhart skirted past River Road 8-7 when the teams last played two weeks ago. Do the Wolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
