Eden Prairie (Minn.) grabbed a lead in the first quarter and rode that momentum to a 28-7 win over
Shakopee (Minn.).
The Eagles put up seven points in the opening frame. Eden Prairie scored on a
Tyler Young touchdown pass to
Zach Hovey.
EP was up 21-0 at the half after taking the lead on a Young touchdown pass to Hovey in the first quarter.
Grant Shaeffer stood out for the Eagles in the win. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
Sean Surbaugh made a difference for the Sabers. The junior ran for one touchdown. He has now scored four touchdowns on the season.
Shakopee's lone touchdown came on a 10-yard run by Surbaugh in the fourth quarter.
Eden Prairie went into the matchup giving up only 12.5 points per game. SHS's seven points were well below its season average of 24.0 per game.
The win was a nice bounce back for EP, which lost to Wayzata last week, 16-0. The loss comes after Shakopee defeated Farmington 35-7 last week. The loss snapped the Sabers' 2-game winning streak.
