It was a good run, but the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Thursday. They fell 36-28 to Overton. Wilcox-Hildreth found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 22 to 9 on offense.
Despite the loss, Wilcox-Hildreth still got an impressive performance from Madison Bunger, who scored 18 points along with seven steals and four blocks. Bunger is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last nine games she's played.
Wilcox-Hildreth struggled to work together and finished the game with only two assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Leading Overton to victory were Jolee Ryan and Natalie Wood. Ryan dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, while Wood dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 rebounds. Wood hasn't dropped below 12 rebounds for four straight games.
Wilcox-Hildreth's defeat dropped their record down to 15-6. As for Overton, the victory was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.
Wilcox-Hildreth will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against the Buffaloes at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Hopefully Elm Creek focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Thursday. As for Overton, they will face off against the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sumner-Eddyville-Miller is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 55.9 points per game this season.
