Melissa High School (Texas) is just a week away from opening a brand new $35 million, 10,000-seat stadium. The Cardinals will face Argyle on Friday, Aug. 25 to officially kick things off in Kenny Deel Stadium, the latest high school football palace in the Lone Star State.
The stadium project broke ground in February of 2021 and joins the existing Championship Center that includes an indoor practice facility to give Melissa some of the best facilities in the state and country.

Melissa won its only state title in 2011, beating Hempstead 28-15 in the Class 2A Division 1 championship game. The Cardinals are now a 5A team in Texas, an illustration of the growth of the school and district. The Dallas-area school had an enrollment of 1,500 students in 2022-23.
The program hasn't had a losing season since 2015 and has gone 33-8 over the past three years. The 2022 team fell to eventual state champion South Oak Cliff in the Class 5A Division 2 quarterfinals.
