Contreras is 9-1 against Robert F. Kennedy Community since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 4:45 p.m.
Last Friday, Contreras came up short against Mendez and fell 10-5.
David Melendez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run. Manuel Alvarado was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Robert F. Kennedy Community had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five last Friday. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 13-12 W against the Titans.
The team relied heavily on Aaron Arroyo, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Giancarlo Pernia, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and one double.
Robert F. Kennedy Community always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .535. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Robert F. Kennedy Community's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-3. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Contreras, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Contreras has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Robert F. Kennedy Community struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Contreras came out on top in a nail-biter against Robert F. Kennedy Community in their previous matchup back in March, sneaking past 3-2. Do the Cobras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bobcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
