The Hopewell-Loudon Chieftains put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They walked away with a 19-7 victory over Calvert. That's another feather in the cap for Hopewell-Loudon, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Hopewell-Loudon got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Blake Berrier out in front who picked up 160 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Hopewell-Loudon's victory was their eighth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 9-2 Carey and 10-3 Gibsonburg (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 56.4% over those games). As for Calvert, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hopewell-Loudon will take on Montpelier at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montpelier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings (they are ranked 520th, while Hopewell-Loudon is ranked 174th). As for Calvert, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Crestview at 7:00 p.m.
