Baseball Game Preview: Rancho Christian Eagles vs. Vista del Lago Ravens

For the second straight game, Rancho Christian will face off against Vista del Lago. It'll be a Battle of the Birds when Rancho Christian Eagles take on Vista del Lago Ravens at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Rancho Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Rancho Christian turned things around against Vista del Lago on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Ravens with a sharp 13-3 victory. Considering the Eagles have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Sean Downs was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rancho Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-4 otherwise. Downs was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cody Horner, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Spencer Horner was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Vista del Lago is on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-6. As for Rancho Christian, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
