Lane wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Nick Galluccio, who went 1-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Jurupa Hills never let their opponents score on Thursday. They came out on top against Whittier Christian by a score of 3-0. That's two games straight that the Spartans have won by exactly three runs.
Like St. Anthony, Jurupa Hills also got a great game from a two-way player: Alejandro Preciado. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over seven innings pitched. Preciado has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.
In other batting news, Aaden Lopez was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Jurupa Hills' victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 22-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.9 runs on average over those games. As for St. Anthony, their victory bumped their record up to 18-8.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Anthony hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Jurupa Hills struggles in that department as they've averaged .390. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
