Basketball Recap: Truckee Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Truckee). They walked away with a 39-32 win over the Virginia City Muckers on Wednesday. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 33-30 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Truckee was led to victory by Elsa Voegele and Violet Euan. Voegele posted 12 points, while Euan had nine points. The dominant performance gave Voegele a new career-high in points.

Virginia City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Haylee Walters, who put up 12 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Walters is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaiya Krum, who earned 12 points.

Truckee's victory ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-2. As for Virginia City, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-3.

Truckee wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 33-22 defeat against Spring Creek on the 13th. As for Virginia City, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 36-35 loss against Owyhee on the 13th.
