It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Quincy had no problem doing just that on Friday. They came out on top against the Modoc Braves by a score of 8-4. The win was nothing new for the Trojans as they're now sitting on seven straight.
Jake Thackeray was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Lancen Walke was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double. Troy Ayotte also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Quincy's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. As for Modoc, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-9.
Coming up, Quincy will square off against Mt. Shasta at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Trojans surely won't give up without a fight. Modoc does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
