Jaron Cannon of
Omaha North is the MaxPreps Nebraska High School Football Player of the Week.
Cannon, a sophomore running back, carried 25 times for 285 yards and four touchdowns in a 40-26 win over Columbus. He ran for another 162 yards in North's season opener in August, a 25-7 win over Bellevue West.
Here are this week's candidates, who collectively garnered more than 16,500 votes:

Landen Crowe,
Alliance: Senior signal caller completed 21 of 33 passes for 359 yards and five touchdowns in a 58-34 win over Valentine.

Kyler Hellbusch,
North Bend Central (North Bend): The Tiger quarterback connected on 22 of 28 passes for 299 yards and five scores while also carrying the football 17 times for an additional 111 yards and a touchdown in a 42-20 win over Milford.

B.J. Newsome,
Omaha Central: Sophomore completed 20 of 23 passes for 289 yards and pair of scores in a 45-0 win over Lincoln High.

Gavin Redden,
Wayne: The Blue Devil junior reeled in 11 aerials for 171 yards and three touchdowns in a 21-20 win over Fort Calhoun.

Tristen Timbers, Alliance: The senior wideout hauled in 10 passes for 190 yards and three touchdowns in a 58-34 win over Valentine.
