The Sonora Wildcats will be playing at home against the Hilmar Yellowjackets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Sonora focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday.
Sonora couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of Gregori. Sonora has not had much luck with Gregori recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the defeat, Sonora got a solid performance out of Adeline Hanson, who scored 9 points along with 9 assists and 7 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Melissa Vassar, who scored 7 points.
Meanwhile, Hilmar had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They walked away with a 35-28 victory over Gustine last Wednesday.
Hilmar got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emma Gomes out in front who scored 14 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Madalyn Alvares was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals.
Sonora's defeat dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Hilmar, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
