The power rankings welcomes a newcomer to the scene as Waconia earned the 22nd spot after its strong showing last week. It picked up a decisive 'W' against Kennedy, finishing up at 38 - 2. The MaxPreps rankings were spot on as they projected Waconia as the clear winner.
Can't Touch This
Owatonna got a 63 - 27 win over Austin last week, and a key reason for the win was senior Jason Williamson. Williamson rushed for 337 yards and five touchdowns. That performance made Williamson one of the best players in the power rankings last week.
Game of Inches
The title of the most exciting match of the week goes to the clash between Sauk Rapids-Rice and Bemidji. Sauk Rapids-Rice can thank its lucky stars for its win over Bemidji. The final score was a hard-fought 38 - 37. Sauk Rapids-Rice saw its record improve to 3-0 and its power rank jump seven places as a result.
Next Week's Big Game
If you are itching to watch a first-rate contest, no game is supposed to fit the bill better than the one between Wayzata (15th in the power rankings) and Eden Prairie (2nd). The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games. Eden Prairie and Wayzata can't both win again this week, so we'll learn on Friday which team falters and which extends its success.
