The Ray Bearcats will head out to square off against the Miami Vandals at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Ray is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.5 runs per game this season.
Ray took an 18-run loss the last time they faced off against Hayden, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Bearcats had just enough and edged out the Lobos 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bearcats have posted against the Lobos since April 13, 2021.
Meanwhile, Miami made easy work of Duncan on Thursday and carried off a 17-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Vandals, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Tessa Roberts was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Miami got a massive performance out of Alexcia Scoggins, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases Scoggins has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylynn Porto, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Miami pushed their record up to 7-5-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Ray, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
Both Ray and Miami just can't seem to miss. The Bearcats have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Miami struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.7 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Ray came up short against Miami in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 14-11. Can the Bearcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
