For the second straight game, South will face off against Mira Monte. The Spartans will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (South has three straight wins, Mira Monte has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times South and Mira Monte had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over the Lions on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Tomas Encinas made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Those 14 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Jose Bojorquez was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI. South is 11-3 when Bojorquez posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-4 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Josh Encinas, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
South kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mira Monte only managed one hit.
Mira Monte's defeat dropped their record down to 5-13. As for South, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. South has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mira Monte struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
