 Meanwhile, Portal had to hit the road for their first game and  it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost  6-0 to Wheeler County on Wednesday. Sadly, the  defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it five in a row.
 Burke County was able to grind out a solid  win over Portal in their previous matchup  back in August of 2023, winning  6-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bears since the  squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
