Central hasn't had much luck against Southwest EC recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Central will head out to square off against Southwest EC at 7:00 p.m. Southwest EC took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Central, who comes in off a win.
Southwest EC will be up against a hot Central squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. Central walked away with a 9-5 victory over Coachella Valley on Friday. While the Spartans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-15-1), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Ricardo Miranda tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Max Fimbres was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Christopher Curiel, who scored a run while going 4-for-4.
Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Southwest EC fell victim to Del Norte and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (1-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The contest marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.
Southwest EC saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Aguilera, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and one double.
Central's record now sits at 7-4. As for Southwest EC, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-3 record this season.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. However, it's not like Southwest EC struggles in that department as they've averaged .345. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Central might still be hurting after the 16-2 loss they got from Southwest EC when the teams last played back in March of 2024. Can Central avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
