Rodriguez extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday, bumping them up to 10-3. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the River City Raiders. Considering the Mustangs have won seven contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Nick Schikore spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Tavin Schmidt and Drew Beasley did most of the damage at the plate: Schmidt went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Beasley got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Beasley has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jack Jacobson, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
Rodriguez hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
As for River City, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-11-1 record this season. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, they couldn't push the score so high this time.
On River City's side, they saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noah Couture, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Rodriguez will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
