While Hillsboro's victory against Windsor wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Hawks had just enough and edged out the Owls 5-4.

Ashley Hilton was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI.

Hilton wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hannah Dubois, who went 2-for-4 with one double. Kaylin Hayes also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Hillsboro has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Windsor, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5-1.

Coming up, Hillsboro will be playing in front of their home fans against Herculaneum at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Windsor, they will venture away from home to take on Festus at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
