Rodriguez is 8-2 against Fairfield since April of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Mustangs will challenge the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. Rodriguez is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Last Wednesday, Rodriguez narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Liberty 5-4. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Mustangs.
Bennett Giaramitta looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jack Jacobson, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. He also brought in three RBI, which is notable because Rodriguez is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 6-7 otherwise. Joey Peppard was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, while Fairfield put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for West Campus. The Falcons were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Warriors. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matchups by six runs or more this season.
Zach O'Reilly was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in March of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Tristen Smith was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Devin Knox, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Fairfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Campus only posted an OBP of .200.
Fairfield has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Rodriguez, their record now sits at 10-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Rodriguez has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Fairfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Rodriguez came up short against Fairfield in their previous meeting back in March of 2024, falling 6-2. Can the Mustangs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
