Drew hasn't had much luck against Urban recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Dragons will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Blues at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Urban will face off against a team with plenty of momentum: Drew extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday. The Dragons were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over St. Joseph Notre Dame.
Cole Gardner made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Gardner was also solid in the batter's box, earning two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kyle Ebrado, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Hunter Block was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and two runs.
Drew kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Urban, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They blew past Summit Shasta 19-3 on Friday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Blues considering their one-run performance the game before.
Like Drew, Urban also got a great game from a two-way player: Conor Darling. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Darling was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February of 2025.
In other batting news, Aaron Knupp was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Declan O'Connor, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one double.
Drew's victory bumped their record up to 3-0. As for Urban, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
