Coronado hasn't had much luck against Americas recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Coronado Thunderbirds will look to defend their home field against the Americas Trail Blazers at 6:30 p.m. Coronado is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games.
Coronado is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They blew past Van Horn 20-4 on Saturday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Thunderbirds have posted since February 16, 2024.

Simone Coppinger was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, seven RBI, and four runs. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Milan Quezada was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Coronado always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Americas suffered their biggest defeat since February 15th on Saturday. They came up short against Montwood, falling 10-2. The Trail Blazers have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.
Americas saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Giselle Alcala, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
Coronado's victory bumped their record up to 8-12. As for Americas, their loss dropped their record down to 9-11.
Tuesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Coronado hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .415. However, it's not like Americas struggles in that department as they've averaged .354. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Coronado might still be hurting after the 15-6 defeat they got from Americas when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can Coronado avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
