After a string of six wins, the High Point Christian Academy Cougars's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They were the victim of a tough 51-26 defeat at the hands of Virginia Academy. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points High Point Christian Academy has scored all season.
Despite the defeat, High Point Christian Academy had strong showings from Kylie Torrence, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five blocks, and Angel Walker, who scored six points along with two steals. Torrence has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times she's played.
High Point Christian Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 16-2. As for Virginia Academy, their win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-6.
High Point Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Greensboro Day School at 4:00 p.m. on January 16th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Greensboro Day School is ranked 20th, while High Point Christian Academy is ranked 13th). As for Virginia Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Riverdale Baptist at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
