Anderson is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will take on the Lassen Grizzlies at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
On Friday, Anderson blew past Oroville, posting a 40-6 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cubs.
Cooper Crye had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 292 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.2% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Michael Manley, who picked up 106 receiving yards and one TD.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Lassen, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They blew past Las Plumas 56-14 on Friday. The Grizzlies' offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Dowan Stephens and Dathen Moore. Stephens rushed for 178 yards and three scores on only 15 carries while Moore rushed for 107 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five carries. Stephens' longest rush was for an incredible 78 yards. Terrin Hanson was in the mix too, providing Lassen with one TD.
Lassen's defense made their presence known, laying out Branden Robinson four times. In that department, Krush Costello was the leader with two sacks. Lassen received some extra help from Hanson, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Anderson's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Lassen, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Anderson has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 323.4 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Lassen, though, as they've been averaging only 45.8 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Anderson took a serious blow against Lassen in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, falling 35-8. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Cubs were down 22-0.
