Danville hasn't had much luck against Normal Community recently, but that could start to change on Monday. Danville is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They fell just short of Bloomington by a score of 10-9 on Friday.
Marvin Davis was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Grayson Kruger, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Normal Community entered their tilt with Geneseo on Saturday with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. They never let the Maple Leafs get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Ironmen have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Beckett Weber was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Michaels, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Max Heineman was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Normal Community's victory bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Danville, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
