Gateway hasn't had much luck against The Bay School recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Gators will look to defend their home field against the Breakers at 3:30 p.m. Gateway has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Gateway is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came up short against Drew on Friday, falling 22-8. That's two games in a row now that the Gators have lost by exactly 14 runs.

Casey Volker and Luca Velasquez stepped up to the plate in a big way. Volker got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs, while Velasquez got on base in all three of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and one run. Volker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last six games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Josh Peterson, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Meanwhile, The Bay School had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Friday. They put the hurt on the Wolverines with a sharp 17-5 victory. Considering the Breakers have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Nate Won made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Won was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-6 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. That's the most doubles he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jasper Cook was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Ari Samson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
The Bay School kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Gateway's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for The Bay School, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.
Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Gateway has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .433. However, it's not like The Bay School struggles in that department as they've averaged .501. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Gateway suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to The Bay School in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Will the Gators have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
