Softball Recap: Thursday's Win Is Alamosa's Third in Last Four Outings

Alamosa hadn't done well against La Junta recently (they were 1-7 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Mean Moose walked away with a 7-3 victory over the Tigers. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Mean Moose also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2024.

Olivia Castillo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits.

On the hitting side, Jayden Wubben was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Araceli Molina, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Alamosa has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for La Junta, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.

Looking ahead, Alamosa will venture away from home to face off against Lamar at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for La Junta, they will host Discovery Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers are facing the Thunder at the right time seeing as the Thunder are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
