Dundy County-Stratton and Southern Valley are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2015, but not for long. The Dundy County-Stratton Tigers will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Southern Valley Eagles on February 8th. Hopefully Dundy County-Stratton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 last Tuesday.
Last Tuesday, Dundy County-Stratton's game was all tied up 19-19 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. In a tight contest that could have gone either way, they made off with a 40-39 win over Southwest.
Dundy County-Stratton's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Clara Spargo, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Alyssa Schneider, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Southern Valley entered their tilt with Gibbon with 17 consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with 18. Southern Valley claimed a resounding 58-15 win over Gibbon at home. Southern Valley has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 22 points or more this season.
The win got Dundy County-Stratton back to even at 10-10. As for Southern Valley, their win was their 14th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1.
Dundy County-Stratton suffered a grim 47-22 defeat to Southern Valley when the teams last played back in February of 2023. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Dundy County-Stratton was down 32-4.
