Softball Recap: Herculaneum Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hillsboro, Herculaneum was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They never let the Hancock Tigers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. With that win, the Black Cats brought their scoring average up to 6.1 runs per game.

Herculaneum got a massive performance out of Cheyenne Wood, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases Wood has posted since back in September. Kiersten Pattison was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Herculaneum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .714. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

With the victory, Herculaneum broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-9. As for Hancock, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Herculaneum will host Affton at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The Cougars have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14 runs per game on average), something the Black Cats will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hancock, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Hazelwood Central at 4:15 p.m.
