Basketball Recap: Bella Pallari's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Vista Del Lago over Lincoln

Vista del Lago suffered their closest loss since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Lincoln Fighting Zebras by a score of 39-37. The Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fighting Zebras apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Bella Pallari, who posted 12 points and five steals. Pallari is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Leila Tureck, who earned nine points.

Vista del Lago has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season. As for Lincoln, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vista del Lago will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rio Americano at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Lincoln and Sacramento Waldorf will round out the year against one another at at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln is on a nine-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), Sacramento Waldorf a five-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
