Illini Bluffs has gone 9-1 against Delavan recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Tigers will challenge the Panthers at 4:30 p.m.
Mt. Pulaski hit Illini Bluffs with a four-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers came up short against the Hilltoppers, falling 10-2. The loss continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Hilltoppers: they've now lost six in a row.
Illini Bluffs saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brayden Fargher, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Delavan). They skirted past Edinburg 10-8. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
Delavan let Grady Burrell and Cameron McMullen run wild. Burrell went 2-for-5 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one double, while McMullen got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI McMullen has posted since back in March of 2025. Corbin Soldal also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Delavan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 3.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.
Delavan's record is now 2-10. As for Illini Bluffs, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Illini Bluffs has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Delavan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Illini Bluffs came out on top in a nail-biter against Delavan when the teams last played back in May of 2025, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Tigers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
