The Taft Wildcats won the last time they faced the Delano Tigers, and things went their way on Thursday too. Taft walked away with a 54-43 win over Delano. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Taft.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Taft to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alaysia Taylor, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Gregory, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
When it comes to explaining why Delano lost, one person who can't be blamed is Delilah Carino. Despite the final result, she scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carino has scored all season.
Taft has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-14 record this season. As for Delano, they dropped their record down to 6-19 with that loss, which was their third straight at home.
Taft will take on Immanuel Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Immanuel Christian's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so Taft's offense will have their work cut out for them. Delano does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
