Sixto Ibarra made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. That hit marked the first that he got this season.
In other batting news, Jax Soares was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. That run was his first of the season. Tevin Clay was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Hanford West). Their pitchers stepped up to hand Orosi a 7-0 shutout on Saturday. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Like Dos Palos, Hanford West also got a great game from a two-way player: Ben Ritchie. On the mound, Ritchie pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sam Sandoval kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over 4.2 innings pitched. At the plate, Ritchie scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Sandoval scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Drake Tafolla, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of King Mitre, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
