The Oakmont Vikings are taking a road trip to take on the Lincoln Fighting Zebras at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Oakmont 3.1, Lincoln 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Oakmont took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Wednesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Madera a 3-0 shutout.

Brayden Saucedo tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over 6.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had over his last three matches.
At the plate, Oakmont's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Trevor Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They blew past the Bruins 11-0. Considering the Fighting Zebras have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Landyn Plaut made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Jackson Cook was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Rocco Pipia was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Oakmont pushed their record up to 19-5 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, their record is now 17-5.
Oakmont skirted past Lincoln 4-3 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
