The University City Centurions lost against the El Capitan Vaqueros back in February of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. University City took a 51-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of El Capitan. University City has not had much luck with El Capitan recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
University City's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaela Martinez, who scored 10 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Chaya Scott, who scored 9 points along with 9 rebounds and 5 blocks.
University City has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. As for El Capitan, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
University City will head out on the road to face off against Maranatha Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Maranatha Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 965th, while University City is ranked 268th). As for El Capitan, they will look to defend their home court on Saturday against Calexico at 12:00 p.m. Calexico's defense has only allowed 27.6 points per game this season, so El Capitan's offense will have their work cut out for El Capitan.
