The Santiago Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Temple City Rams at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Santiago is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
Santiago's 18-8 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a serious blow against Rancho Cucamonga on Tuesday, falling 62-22. While losing is never fun, Santiago can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 976th, while Rancho Cucamonga is ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, Temple City really took it to San Gabriel Academy for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-21 win at home. With Temple City ahead 36-8 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
Kristi Huynh was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with six steals. Those 24 points set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Hailey Chau, who scored 17 points.
Santiago's loss dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Temple City, they pushed their record up to 7-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
