Baseball Recap: Southwest SD's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Southwest SD not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 20th. They put the hurt on the Kearny Komets with a sharp 15-7 victory. The Raiders might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Anthony Bejarano made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases.

In other batting news, Southwest SD let Elijah Lewis and Johan Colmenares run wild. Lewis scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances, while Colmenares scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-5. That's the most runs Lewis has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Legorreta, who went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and two RBI.

Southwest SD kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

With the win, Southwest SD broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 8-6-1. As for Kearny, they dropped their record down to 3-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Looking ahead, Southwest SD will head out on the road to face off against Lincoln at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Kearny, they will welcome Castle Park at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
