The Elite Eagles will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against the Westlake Charter Explorers at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Last Tuesday, Elite had to suffer through a rough 63-18 loss at the hands of the Patriots. While losing is never fun, Elite can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1282nd, while the Patriots are ranked 606th).
Despite their defeat, Elite saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Amaiya Seeberry, who scored no points along with seven steals, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Jeneyah Fowler, who scored two points along with 13 rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Westlake Charter was beaten by the Panthers 57-24 on Tuesday. Westlake Charter has struggled against the Panthers recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Elite has been struggling recently as they've lost 15 of their last 16 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-20 record this season. As for Westlake Charter, their loss dropped their record down to 11-8.
Elite was dealt a bruising 61-28 loss at the hands of the Explorers when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Westlake Charter's Lena Tahod, who scored 29 points along with eight steals and two blocks. Now that Elite knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
