Two dominant guards in Alanah Lopez and Dailynn Greener are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gregori Jaguars will head out on the road to challenge the Pitman Pride at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Gregori will be looking to extend their current seven-game winning streak.
Gregori scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 70-25 win over Modesto on the road. With that victory, Gregori brought their scoring average up to 50 points per game.
Lilly Staggs was her usual excellent self, scoring 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last eight times she's played. Another player making a difference was Audrey Pacheco, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Pitman put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They put the hurt on Enochs with a sharp 67-46 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory Pitman has posted against Enochs since May 5, 2021.
It was another big night for Greener, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 11 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexi Pulido, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Gregori's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points per game. As for Pitman, they now have a winning record of 10-9.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Gregori have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pitman struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 36.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Gregori beat Pitman 52-41 in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gregori since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
