The Grandview Wolves will head out to take on the Columbine Rebels at 12:15 p.m. on Friday. Grandview is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.
Grandview was handed a 12-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Chatfield 5-4. The victory continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won three in a row.
Grandview gave Christi Birx the start and clearly made the right call: she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Birx has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Monroe Donaldson and Sasha Kennedy did most of the damage at the plate: Donaldson went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kennedy went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Kennedy has been hot for a while, having posted at least one stolen base the last 14 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Jaramillo, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Columbine walked away with it. They blew past the Eagles 12-2 on Saturday. Considering the Rebels have won 14 games by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Columbine also got a great performance from Addison Swenby as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Mason Abraham was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and three runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Nina Vargas was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.
Columbine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Grandview's record now sits at 16-10. As for Columbine, their record is now 20-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Grandview has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Columbine struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
