If the Jefferson-Morgan Rockets were riding high off their 49-26 takedown of the Carlynton Cougars on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jefferson-Morgan took a serious blow against Charleroi on Monday, falling 59-30. While losing is never fun, Jefferson-Morgan can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 448th, while Charleroi is ranked 163rd).
It was another big night for Riley Jones, who scored 23 points for Charleroi. Those 23 points set a new season-high mark for her. Bella Carroto was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Jefferson-Morgan's loss dropped their record down to 2-4. As for Charleroi, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Jefferson-Morgan will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Monessen at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024. Charleroi and Bethlehem Center will round out the year against one another at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th at.
