Avella is 8-0 against Bentworth since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Avella Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the Bentworth Bearcats at 7:30 p.m. Avella is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
Avella struggled with assists on Tuesday (St. Joseph had nine more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Avella was dealt a 63-24 defeat at the hands of St. Joseph. While losing is never fun, Avella can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 537th, while St. Joseph is ranked 74th).
Despite their loss, Avella saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Ava Frank, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds, was perhaps the best of all.
Meanwhile, Bentworth's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell just short of Frazier by a score of 57-54.
Avella's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Bentworth, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Everything went Avella's way against Bentworth in their previous matchup back in December of 2022 as Avella made off with a 50-29 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Avella since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
