Russellville is 2-8 against Linn since September of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Indians will head out to challenge the Wildcats at 4:00 p.m. Russellville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Russellville barely beat Eugene the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Eagles on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Indians, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

K'Lea Basnett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests.
In other batting news, Karsyn Duncan was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Audra Whittle was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last six times Linn and St. Elizabeth have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Wildcats fell just short of the Hornets by a score of 5-4.
Heslie Higginbotham made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Starke, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Linn's loss dropped their record down to 23-5. As for Russellville, their record is now 17-8.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Russellville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Linn struggles in that department as they've averaged .333. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Russellville might still be hurting after the 12-5 defeat they got from Linn when the teams last played back in September. Can the Indians avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
