The Mt. Eden Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Castro Valley Trojans at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mt. Eden is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Mt. Eden lost to Encinal at home by a decisive 54-36 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mt. Eden in their matchups with Encinal: they've now lost seven in a row.
Castro Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They were outmatched by Bishop O'Dowd on the road and fell 75-14. Castro Valley was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-11.
Naomi Chew put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored nine points along with five rebounds and two steals. Chew is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Castro Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Mt. Eden has not been sharp recently, as they've lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season. As for Castro Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 7-10.
Mt. Eden came up short against Castro Valley in their previous meeting back in January of 2022, falling 48-40. Thankfully for Mt. Eden, Lauren Green (who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and six steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
