How does it
work? Nominees are selected from
statistics submitted on MaxPreps. Coaches who do not have current access may
request their free account here.
Weekly finalists are released on MaxPreps every
Tuesday and voting is conducted in a special poll.
Voting ceases at noon on Mondays. The winners are announced the next day
along with the next week's nominees.
Participants may vote as many
times as they want. It's a competition.

Week 1 Ohio High School Athletes of the Week
* Julian Patti, Rocky River
FootballSenior completed 22-of-33 passes for 421
yards and five TDs in a 55-42 win over Harvey.
* Karlee Plozay, Bethel (Tipp City)
VolleyballSenior had 28 kills and 24 digs in a 3-2
win over Dayton Christian.

Nominees
* Ian Ludewig, Hudson Football
Senior carried the ball 27 times for 345 yards and three TDs in a 45-8 win over Hoover. He has 515 rushing yards and eight total TDs in two games.
* Josh Biery, LaBrae (Leavittsburg) Boys Soccer
Junior became the 17th player in state history to score eight goals or more in a game when he had eight goals and an assist in a 14-0 win over Garfield Heights.
* Justice Burnam, Anderson (Cincinnati) Football
Junior has completed 44-of-52 passes (85%) for 647 yards, nine TDs and no interceptions in wins over Loveland and South Oldham. Has also rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries.
* Mansour M'baye, Villa Angela-St. Joseph (Cleveland) Boys Soccer
Senior started the season with five hat tricks or better en route to scoring an Ohio-leading 21 goals in wins over Cornerstone Christian, Euclid, Cuyahoga Heights, Brush and Brookside. His 45 points ranks No. 1 in the state as well.
* Steele Meister, Newark Football
Senior quarterback completed 18-of-25 passes for 205 yards and a school-record five TDs in a 35-28 win over Mt. Vernon. That followed a 35-21 Week 1 win over Zanesville in which he went 10-for-14 for 241 yards and two TDs and carried the ball 18 times for 59 yards and three TDs.
* Maria Drapp, Mercy McAuley (Cincinnati) Volleyball
Senior had 52 assists in a win over St. Henry (Ky.) and 50 assists in a 3-2 loss to Toledo Notre Dame. She currently ranks 34th in state history with 2,663 career assists.
* Nadir Langston, Hamilton Township (Columbus) Football
Senior carried the ball 20 times for 159 yards and three TDs and caught four passes for 67 yards and two TDs in a 57-36 win over Lancaster.
* Sydnee Maxwell , Bishop Rosecrans (Zanesville) Girls Soccer
Junior had three successive hat tricks or better with three, four and four goals in wins over Heath, Fisher Catholic and the Wellington School.
