The Vienna Eagles will head out on the road to take on the St. Mary Vikings at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Vienna is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.
Vienna took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Trico. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hayden Jones made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off 11 hits (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Vienna is 4-1 when Jones posts two or more runs, but 7-11 otherwise.
In other batting news, Connor Reichert was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Vienna's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1 (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Gavin Jordan was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last contest, St. Mary made sure to put some runs up on the board against Lyon County on Thursday. The Vikings were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Lyons. The Vikings might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.
Kaden Durbin spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, St. Mary got a massive performance out of Jake Haas, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. What's more, Haas posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Blake Haas, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
St. Mary always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lyon County only posted an OBP of .200.
Vienna has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-12 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for St. Mary, their record now sits at 16-2.
