Even though the North Buncombe Black Hawks scored an imposing 56 points on Wednesday, the McDowell Titans still came out on top. McDowell enjoyed a cozy 72-56 win over North Buncombe. Given McDowell's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while North Buncombe is ranked 249th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Rylan Parkins, who scored 28 points. The game was his ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zack Reese, who scored nine points.
McDowell's victory bumped their record up to 11-2. As for North Buncombe, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Enka the next time they take the court. McDowell will host Enka at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, while North Buncombe will host them at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
