Wiseburn- Da Vinci won the last time they faced New Roads and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Wolves blew past the Jaguars 18-2. The result was nothing new for the Wolves, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Thomas Carpenter and Beckett Miller made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Carpenter tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. At bat, Carpenter went 1-for-3 with one home run and four RBI, while Miller went 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that Carpenter has launched this season.
In other pitching news, Tristan Martinez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
Back at the plate, Adan Barbosa was a standout: he got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Edward Sanchez, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .516 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci pushed their record up to 18-10 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for New Roads, they moved to 14-11 with that defeat, which also ended their six-game winning streak.
As of now, neither Wiseburn- Da Vinci nor the Jaguars have any future games scheduled.
