Basketball Recap: Serra Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Mariyah Lewis and Jadah Foster

After flying high against Banning last Wednesday, Serra came back down to earth. The Serra Cavaliers received a blow on Thursday as they fell 48-34 to the El Segundo Eagles. The Cavaliers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Serra's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jadah Foster, who posted 12 points, and Mariyah Lewis, who had 12 points. Foster continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.

Serra now has a losing record at 4-5. As for El Segundo, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.

Serra won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Whitney at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Whitney knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Serra likes a good challenge. As for El Segundo, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Banning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
