Baseball Game Preview: Tulare Union Tribe vs. Lemoore Tigers

Tulare Union is 0-8 against Lemoore since March of 2023 but things could change on Wednesday. The Tribe will venture away from home to challenge the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Lemoore took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tulare Union, who comes in off a win.

Tulare Union took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Tulare Western, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Tribe sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Mustangs on Friday. The win was some much needed relief for the Tribe as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Roman Leal spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on nine hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Brayden Stevenson was excellent, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs. He is becoming a predictor of Tulare Union's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-1-1 (and 1-13 when he doesn't).

Hanford hit Lemoore with a four-run seventh inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers fell just short of the Bullpups by a score of 7-5.

Ben Johnson was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Chris Garcia, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs.

Tulare Union's victory bumped their record up to 7-14-1. As for Lemoore, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.

Tulare Union couldn't quite get it done against Lemoore when the teams last played back in March as they fell 5-0. Can the Tribe avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
